The Tiger Adviser staff has recently decided to reinvent the Tiger Adviser, by transitioning from class to club. The Tiger Adviser will soon be renamed The Gilbert Click, a pun referring to High School “cliques” and how the online paper uses computer “clicks.”
The transition is being lead by Senior, Ciera Thompson and Sophomore, Marli Mayon.
“We are redesigning the paper, since we are not a class anymore. We are not The Tiger Adviser anymore. It’s like a new beginning, and it’s giving us a fresh start. It’s giving more power to the students,” said Thompson.
With a new paper, more students will have the opportunity to become free-lance writers.
“We want serious, experienced writers, but new writers will learn to build on their existing skills,” said Mayon.
The Gilbert Click is holding a logo-designing contest in lieu of the changes, and the winner will receive a $50 Visa Giftcard.
“The logo contest is a good way to get students involved,” said staff-writer Abbey Willman.
The Gilbert Click will be a new start for the Tiger Adviser, and the students expect to compete for national awards under the new name.
“I think we have a pretty good chance. With Ciera leading this ship in the right direction, I really think we could do this,” said freshman Johnny Parker.
The Gilbert Click will be introduced to Gilbert High School at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year.
