Ciera Thompson – Editor-in-Chief

Ciera Thompson is a 17-year-old senior at Gilbert High that has been in Journalism for 5 years of her life. She has lived in Arizona her entire life and aspires to attend either the University of Arizona, or Arizona State University next school year. She enjoys taking pictures and writing articles for newspaper and plans on continuing Journalism of some-sort throughout her college career. As the only freshman, nicknamed “Baby”, in 2007, she is now the only senior in Journalism and the Editor-in-Chief. Outside of Journalism, she works with V.I.K., which is an after-school program for elementary kids, and loves helping the children and playing with them on a daily basis. Ciera loves Journalism and cannot wait to make this year’s paper as amazing as she can.

Varun Bajaj – News Editor

Varun Bajaj, 16 year old sophomore at Gilbert High, has three years of prior experience in newswriting. While working for the Grizzly Express and Tiger Adviser, Varun realized his passion for journalism and has decided to make it his career. Varun plans to continue with his passion and attend Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. When Varun isn’t working on his journalistic writing, he plays chess for Gilbert High’s chess team. Being a part of Gilbert’s nationally recognized chess team drains most of Varun’s time, due to practices and tournaments on each day of the week. Rachel Michieli – Staff Writer

Rachel Michieli is a fourteen year old freshman at Gilbert High School. She is new to journalism and would love to learn how to increase her writing skills. She loves reading, writing, and is currently working on a Novella based on the events of when she lived in Italy. She lived in Italy for one year where she went to an all Italian school for boys and girls called Instituto San Tommaso D’Aquino and learned valuable lessons on writing from her Scottish tutor and translator. She also has a great passion for soccer, has been playing since she was 4 years old,  and her love for soccer became even greater after living in Italy and learning how to play “Italian style”. Rachel hopes to move back to Italy one day and write novels of her experiences.
